Domain Names

Computers think differently from Humans. They address each others by a series of numbers. These arfe called IP addresses.

Humans can think mainly in terms of names, which is why we have telephone directories. Its easier to look up a number from a name rather than a name if you have a number.

IMPORTANT!!!- Do not mistake your website space for your domain name and vice versa.

A domain name is only a pointer like a nameplate on the door which says House 42 on XYZ street belongs to Mr. Y. and costs almost the same even if you are a portal or a small one man show.

The house on the other hand is your webspace and it can be as large as a mansion (dedicated server) for a portal and a one room house ( 10 MB of space) for a one man show.
